Tiki barber snubbed by NFL

Tiki barber snubbed by NFL, NBC's Peter King had a sad report about his former Football Night in America co-star Tiki Barber over the weekend.

King wrote Barber is "devastated" that not a single NFL club called him or agent Mark Lepselter as the former star running back attempts a comeback for the 2011 season.

Barber was a hot TV commodity when he retired from the New York Giants after the 2006 season.

After talking with ESPN, he joined NBC where he appeared with King as a studio analyst on NBC's Sunday night program and served as a correspondent for NBC's top-rated Today Show.

But Barber's anticipated TV career fizzled out. He was moved out of the Football Night in America studio and turned into a sideline reporter. The network didn't renew his contract after the 2010 season.

Even worse, Barber's personal life became tabloid fodder when it was reported he'd left pregnant wife Ginny for former NBC intern Traci Lynn Johnson. Barber is now engaged to Johnson while his acrimonious divorce with Ginny proceeds in Manhattan Supreme Court.

After getting back into the gym and training hard, the 36-year old Barber decided to come out of retirement and play in the NFL again this season. But he couldn't get a sniff from any club after five years away from the game -- except for the Miami Dolphins, which worked him out but did not sign him.
