‘Two and a Half Men’ renewed by CBS: Angus T. Jones to return

‘Two and a Half Men’ renewed by CBS: Angus T. Jones to return, has been renewed by CBS for season 11 and despite previous controversies, Angus T. Jones will return; at least for some of the shows. In real life, Angus T. Jones is attending college and by continuing to perform as Jake Harper in some episodes of “Two and a Half Men,” the 19-year-old actor would be able to pursue his educational goals as well as his professional goals. On April 26, 2013, The Hollywood Reporter wrote that the “young star will attend college in the fall as the network and studio Warner Bros. Television are working on a deal to have him recur in season 11.”

While “Two and a Half Men” stars Ashton Kutcher and Jon Cryer have already signed their new one-year deals as regulars for season 11 on Chuck Lorre’s comedy, it is no surprise that Angus T. Jones’ final deal is delayed.

Angus T. Jones has been very outspoken about his wish to attend college during season 10 of “Two and a Half Men” and he has also been quite outspoken about how his character has been used in the comedy during season 10.

According to a 2012 NBC News report, Angus T. Jones said at the annual PaleyFest in Los Angeles that he felt “very awkward” being part of the more grown-up storylines that “Two and a Half Men” has covered during the current season in which his character Jake Harper began intimate encounters with women of all ages.

“'I mean, I am with these people on set that I have been with since I was 8 years old,' he said. 'And (I’m) doing the adult thing when I am still not an adult. I mean, I am 18, but I am not an adult'.”

Many “Two and a Half Men” fans agree with Angus T. Jones, an actor with smarts and a conscience. With the declining ratings of “Two and a Half Men,” maybe the comedy show’s writers could include some of those characteristics into the character of Jake Harper.

Since Ashton Kutcher’s character has money, Jon Cryer’s character has the lack thereof (and lack of everything else), why not have the character of Angus T. Jones stumble into a military academy and accidentally discover his smarts; the show could use a positive and refreshing twist.
