CBS Blogger Fired For ‘Chunky’ Cheerleader Comments, A CBS blogger was reportedly fired for “chunky” cheerleader comments, in an article aimed at Thunder Girl Kelsey Williams. The article was written under the name “Claire Crawford,” but is thought to have been written by Digital Content Manager Anna-Megan Raley.
The article questioned whether Oklahoma City Thunder cheerleader Kelsey Williams is “too chunky to be an OKC Thunder cheerleader.” The commentary has been removed, however a cached version of the page is still available.
The blogger states that she is not “trying to be ugly,” she is simply “discussing what men like in women.” She specifically points out the “‘pudginess around her waistline.”
An included poll asks readers to decide whether Kelsey “has the perfect look,” “could use some tightening up in her midsection,” or “has no business wearing that outfit in front of people.”
The article concludes with the statement “we think she’s beautiful.” Unfortunately, the writer’s final conclusion did not distract readers from the rest of the article.
A public outcry over the insensitive comments apparently caused the CBS blogger to be fired. Shortly after the “chubby” cheerleader article went viral, it disappeared from the CBS website.
As reported by News 6 Oklahoma, CBS Sports Radio confirmed that a Digital Content Manager was fired after writing the blog. Although it has not been specifically confirmed, it is well known that Digital Content Manager, Anna-Megan Raley, writes under the name Claire Crawford for CBS.
As reported by MStars News, Kelsey responded to her fans on Twitter, thanking them for their continued support and encouragement.
Besides cheering for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kelsey is an event planner and owner of Elite Events by Kelsey. She also works for Twenty Something magazine as a fashion editor, stylist, and co-creative director. She is married to Cole Williams.
Kelsey has maintained a positive attitude throughout the controversy. However, executives at CBS have apparently fired their blogger for the “chunky” cheerleader comments.
