Marion police officers arrested after allegedly tasing woman numerous times, Two Marion police officers are accused of using excessive force in the arrest of a woman after investigators said they tasered the woman numerous times.

Sgt. Franklin Delano Brown and Cpl. Eric Rayburn Walters were charged with first-degree assault and battery and misconduct in office, according to the State Law Enforcement Division.

The incident happened on April 2 on Jones Avenue in the city of Marion, according to the arrest warrants issued by SLED.

Investigators said Sgt. Brown responded to a call to assist Cpl. Walters. It’s unclear what the call was for, but investigators said the officers used far too much force to detain the woman.

The officers have been suspended without pay, SLED’s spokesman Mr. Thom Berry said.

The officers were booked into the Marion City Detention Center on Thursday morning. Each of their charges carry a maximum of up to 10 years in prison.
