'Rocky' and Sylvester Stallone head to Broadway in 2014, Believe it or not, Sylvester Stallone and the hit movie series, “Rocky” are heading to Broadway! Daily News reported on April 28, that a musical based on the popular 1976 boxing movie series “Rocky” will take the stage at the Winter Garden Theater in 2014.
Stallone, 66, who portrayed Rocky Balboa in the six movie series that unfolded over three decades, is reportedly producing “Rocky” the musical.
Stallone has had many highlights throughout his long career including starring in “Rambo” and “The Expendables.”
“Rocky” won at the Academy Awards for the best picture in 1977, along with the best motion picture at the Golden Globes in the same year.
In addition to producing “Rocky” the musical, Sylvester Stallone has three movies in post-production that are due to release in 2013 including, "Reach Me," "Escape Plan," and "Grudge Match." It's also been reported that “The Expendables 3” has been announced.
The first previews of “Rocky” the musical will start in February 2014, and the official opening is planned for March 2014.
