Boston Marathon: Authorities believe suspects were trained

Boston Marathon: Authorities believe suspects were trained, There are still a lot of questions surrounding the Boston Marathon bombings. Authorities are still searching for answers about how the suspects built the bombs they used, and about what may have led these two seemingly normal individuals to attack innocent people. According to an article published by USA Today on April 28, some U.S. officials now say they believe the suspects were trained before carrying out the attacks.

USA Today reports that the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee believes Boston bombing suspects, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his 26-year-old brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev had to have received training to pull off the terror attacks on April 15.

Additionally, Rep. Michael McCaul called the pressure-cooker bombs that were used in the attack sophisticated, and said that he believes that's a sign that the brothers may have been trained.

The shrapnel-filled pressure-cookers are said the be the same type of devices used by terrorist groups in war-torn regions like Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan. However, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has told investigators that he and his brother acted alone, and were motivated by the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Tsarnaev brothers are accused of bombing spectators near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Those blasts killed three people and injuring more than 200 others.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev died after a gunfight with police on April 18. His brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was wounded in that same confrontation, and was later captured after a 24-hour manhunt.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev who is said to be recovering in a federal medical center has been charged with using a weapon of mass destruction, and with malicious destruction of property resulting in death.
