Michelle obama arm procedure, Michelle Obama's arms have inspired a rising trend where arms are "lifted" through plastic surgery.
The First Lady is well known for her toned arms, and is even an advocate for fitness through her "Let's Move" campaign, which battles childhood obesity.
Today, patients that consist of mostly women are going under the knife in order to gain the lean, long arms like that of the First Lady, Jennifer Aniston, and Jessica Biel, according to a new report.
The procedure, called brachioplasty, removes excess skin and fat on the upper arms- a trouble spot even for many active people.
New statistics released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) on Monday indicated that requests for the arm lift procedure rose by over 4,000 percent in the last 10 years in the U.S.
For instance, in the year 2000, around 300 women underwent an arm lift, while last year, over 15,000 women did the same.
The widespread desire for Michelle Obama-like arms does not come as a surprise, as even other high profile individuals have admitted envy over the First Lady's physique.
During the presidential election, Ellen DeGeneres tweeted, "Where do I vote for Michelle Obama's arms?"
Olympic sprinter Lolo Jones recently posted a picture of herself working out with the caption, "… and Michelle Obama still has better arms."
Mrs. Obama is not the first celebrity to inspire plastic surgery trends. Britain's the Duchess of Cambridge, or Kate Middleton, has also been named during consultations with plastic surgeons for her nose.
British plastic surgeons revealed that requests for Middleton's nose have tripled since 2011, according to Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, other statistics released by the ASPS indicated that 91 percent of cosmetic surgery patients are women, and that more people than ever are getting Botox.
Furthermore, breast augmentation remains the top most-requested plastic surgery procedure- as it has been since 2006.
