Duchess kate baby bump, The Where’s Waldo? of pregnancy bumps continues! Just yesterday, as Duchess Kate appeared with her bump shrouded in a green Mulberry coat, our ever enlightening friends at the Daily Mail featured a story headlined, “All these women were blooming at six months. So . . . why is Kate’s bump so tiny?”
Why, indeed? The D.M. put the tough questions to Simon Mehigan, a consulting midwife at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, who explained that smaller bumps are common in first pregnancies. Especially if you keep it tight at the gym: “It’s Kate’s first baby, so she’s going to have good abdominal muscles, meaning everything will be held in nice and tightly,” he explained to the paper.
“It’s not unusual for women to not show very much during their first pregnancy. But it can be a different story with your second and third babies.” When everything’s all blown out and busted, is the subtext. In a similar vein, USA Today put together a photo gallery positing Kate is just as slim as when she and William wed in April 2011. We’re calling that slightly off—she looks to our admittedly untrained eye about as “far along” as did Diana, six months pregnant with William (above right).
Meanwhile, today Kate was photographed out in Manchester making a charity visit, wearing a slim-fitting Erdem dress and navy heels. The more body-conscious silhouette—she’s been wearing bulky coats lately—caused some relief on Fleet Street. “
The Sun is Finally Here and so is Kate’s Bump! The Duchess Blooms on St George’s Day,” trilled the Mail again, lauding today’s appearance as “the first real glimpse.” And in our favorite detail of her visit to Manchester, Kate’s puppy Lupo—regrettably not in attendance—was presented a gift hamper by one of the school’s star students. (The school, meanwhile, is coincidentally the backdrop for the TV show Shameless.)
