Mother shot holding baby: 10-day old son loses mother by stray bullet, A violent dispute resulted in a mother shot holding her baby. The incident happened in Alabama when Sherri Williams was cradling her 10-day old son in the doorway of her apartment located in Gate City, ABC News reports April 30.
Birmingham Police Sgt. Johnny Williams said the 24-year-old mother was fatally shot Monday afternoon after two men got into a fight nearby. One of the individuals began chasing the other and began firing his gun as he ran off. The young mother was hit by one of the stray bullets. She wasn't the intended target.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another report states the two suspects are male and female African-Americans. The woman has long braids, which might be easier in tracking her down. Witnesses recall the duo escaping the scene in a black Chrysler Sebring sedan.
Hopefully this couple will be caught up with and brought to justice quickly. Although their own feud had nothing to do with the woman who was tragically killed, their outburst resulted in taking the life of a newborn baby's mother.
