According to an article published by CBS News on April 24, officials believe the bombs were detonated by remote control.

The remote control used is said to be one that would be used for a toy car. Officials say the bombs weren't very sophisticated, and that the suspects would have had to be within a few blocks of the bomb sites to trigger the blasts.

The suspects in this terror attack are 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his 26-year-old brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in a late night shootout with police on Thursday, April 18.
