Duck Dynasty Record, Duck Dynasty” only gets bigger. It season finale Wednesday night set new ratings records for the A&E network and in the process made even “American Idol” shrink under its growing wingspan.

But the duck show dwarfed those other reality entries in the category where the money is made — viewers between the ages of 18 and 49. “Duck Dynasty” scored a 4.3 rating among that group. “Idol,” which once towered over the rest of television in that category, was the network television leader with a 3.3 rating. “Survivor” had a 2.9 rating in that age group – its best performance of the year.
For its third season, “Duck Dynasty” averaged 8.4 million viewers, up a staggering 95 percent from Season 2.
The timing could hardly be better for the Robertson family, owners of the Duck Commander business, which makes duck-related products in Louisiana. They are in ongoing negotiations with the network for per-episode fees for the series.
Unlike other stars, however, the Robertsons are not holding out and delaying the show to create leverage for salary demands. An A&E executive said Thursday that Season 4 had begun production -- with the Robertsons honoring the network’s option for more seasons – even as negotiations for their salaries continue.
