Man shot in the abdomen, back on playground at Washington Park, A man was critically injured after being shot twice Monday afternoon at Washington Park in northwest Atlanta.
And police said they have found five shell casings from two different guns.
On Tuesday they were still searching for at least one shooter, even as they tried to determine the motive for the crime.
The incident happened shortly after 4 p.m., according to Atlanta police. Several motorists flagged down an officer on patrol to report that they heard four to five shots fired in the area, according to a police report.
They also said they saw a man running south through the park in between two houses.
The officer was searching the area for the suspect when another emergency call came in of a man shot at 1001 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, police said.
The officer responded to the scene and found the victim, who was wearing no shirt, lying face down, police said.
He had been shot in the abdomen and in the back.
The man was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was taken in to surgery while officers canvassed the park.
"We discovered five handgun shell casing, later identified as four .380ACP shell casings and one 9mm shell casing, in the area of the playground that is located on the southeast portion of Washington Park," the officer said, according to the police report.
