Volusia County Sheriff’s Office searching for missing Osteen woman

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office searching for missing Osteen woman, Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for an 81-year old woman missing from the Osteen area. Volusia County Sheriff’s spokesperson Brandon Haught says Shirley Umbarger has been missing for two weeks. Neighbors called the Sheriff’s Office Sunday after noticing that newspapers were piled up outside her home on Gee Whiz Lane. One neighbor also found a sliding glass door at the home open and a radio playing inside the home. Sheriff’s deputies checked the home but found no signs of forced entry or of foul play.

Neighbors reported seeing Umbarger last around two weeks ago after a trip to a store. The Osteen woman does not have a car or a cell phone, and checks by deputies with area hospitals and businesses have been made, but the woman remains missing. Attempts to contact her family have also been unsuccessful.

Shirley Umbarger is described as about 5-2 in height, 115 pounds with brown eyes and blonde hair. If you see Umbarger or have information about where she is, please call the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office at (386) 736-5999.
